Team India looks to finish off in high note

Team India looks to finish off in high note, eyeing a 4-1 series win over an inconsistent Sri Lanka in the final one-dayer on Saturday.

India has been consistent and has dominated the five-match series right from the start, barring the second ODI, which it lost by nine wickets, after coming into the tournament following a prolonged break. The Indians took an unassailable 3-1 lead after winning the fourth ODI by six wickets and they will now aim to end the series off in high note.

On the other hand, Sri Lankans are looking to win the dead rubber for pride. Jayawardene and his men are hoping to salvage pride in the final ODI and finished the series with 2-3 rather than 1-4.

For Sri Lanka, it was not just inconsistency but more of an under-performance. Apart from Kumar Sangakkara’s 133 in the first game, Sri Lankans has been below par.

In the middle order Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal have performed below their ability. Thisara Perera's all-round efforts were not at par with his performance against Pakistan

Bowling department is another area of concern for the hosts. Nuwan Kulasekera has been ruled out of the entire series due to injury. Lasith Malinga is leading the pace attack with youngsters like Nuwan Pradeep and Isuru Udana. However, Malinga is also too expensive. He has taken just 5 wickets in last four outings.

For India,Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli were superb in the middle order. Kohli scored two hundreds while Raina hit three consecutive half centuries.

All-rounder Irfan Pathan has provided depth in the batting line up and he is also instrumental in providing early breakthrough. Spinner R Ashwin has been doing well with part-timers like Sehwag and Manoj Tiwary, who took career best 4/61 in last game.
