Team India fined for slow over-rate in 1st ODI

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Doni was fined 20 per cent of his match fee while his teammates have to pay 10 per cent of their earnings for maintaining a slow over-rate during the first ODI against Sri Lanka.

"India captain MS DHONI and the India team have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during its 21-run victory against Sri Lanka in the first one-day international held in Hambantota on Saturday.

"The offence is contrary to Article 2.5.1 of the code which relates to minor over-rate offences. The finding and penalty were imposed following a full disciplinary hearing,"   the ICC said in a statement.

India won the first match by 21 runs on Saturday night.
